The destiny matrix love line is a three-card line in the lower right of the chart: D2, then D2 plus the shared point, then the shared point itself (C2 + D2). Tradition links it with attraction, partnership and how you build close bonds. It describes your patterns in relationships, never a specific person or what will happen between you.

To see your own love line with every sum shown, use the destiny matrix calculator.

Which points make up the love line

A destiny matrix places four personal corners around a center: A (left), B (top), C (right) and D (bottom), with E in the middle. The bottom line, from D to the center, holds the karmic tail, read D2-D1-D. The right-hand line, from C to the center, holds C1 and C2.

Just off the center toward the lower right, these two lines meet at the shared point. Two short lines lead into it: the money channel from C2, and the love line from D2. The full layout is in how to read a destiny matrix chart.

How do you calculate your love line?

Reduce any total above 22 by adding its digits. The matrix uses Marseille numbering: 8 is Justice, 11 is Strength and the Fool is 22.

  1. A = day, B = month, C = the year’s digits added together, each reduced.
  2. D = A + B + C, and E = A + B + C + D.
  3. D2 = D + E, and C2 = C + E.
  4. Shared point (S) = C2 + D2.
  5. Middle love point = D2 + S.

Your love line is D2 · (D2 + S) · S.

Example 1: March 15, 1990

  • A = 15, B = 3, C = 19, D = 10, E = 11
  • D2 = 10 + 11 = 21, C2 = 19 + 11 = 30 → 3
  • S = 3 + 21 = 24 → 6, middle = 21 + 6 = 27 → 9
  • Love line: 21 · 9 · 6, the World, the Hermit and the Lovers

Example 2: July 26, 1994

  • A = 26 → 8, B = 7, C = 1 + 9 + 9 + 4 = 23 → 5, D = 20, E = 40 → 4
  • D2 = 20 + 4 = 24 → 6, C2 = 5 + 4 = 9
  • S = 9 + 6 = 15, middle = 6 + 15 = 21
  • Love line: 6 · 21 · 15, the Lovers, the World and the Devil

Example 3: November 8, 1988

  • A = 8, B = 11, C = 1 + 9 + 8 + 8 = 26 → 8, D = 27 → 9, E = 36 → 9
  • D2 = 9 + 9 = 18, C2 = 8 + 9 = 17
  • S = 17 + 18 = 35 → 8, middle = 18 + 8 = 26 → 8
  • Love line: 18 · 8 · 8, the Moon, Justice and Justice again

What does each point on the love line mean?

Position Formula Often read as Other names you’ll see
Entry D2 What draws you in and what you bring into partnership Relationship channel, soulmate point
Middle D2 + S How you bond, and the kind of dynamic that keeps a relationship alive Ideal partner point
Shared point C2 + D2 The quality that links love and resources, where both lines meet Money and people, balance point

For 21 · 9 · 6, a reader might say: you’re drawn to breadth and freedom (World), perhaps a partner from a different background, or a relationship with room for travel and change. Depth and space (Hermit) keep it healthy, so treat time alone as a need. And the Lovers at the shared point make value-based choice the heart of both love and work.

For 6 · 21 · 15 the tone shifts: attraction and a real choice of each other (Lovers) at the entry, room to grow and explore together (World) as the glue, and strong chemistry and drive (Devil) as the bridge to everything else.

Why can the love line only start with seven numbers?

The entry point D2 is always one of seven numbers: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 or 21. That’s because the center E contains D twice over, which ties D + E to a multiple of 3. We confirmed it by running every date from 1900 to 2100 through the formula. The middle and shared points can be anything from 3 to 22.

Each possible entry card tends to read this way on the love line. The matrix number pages have the full meaning of each card.

Entry (D2) Card What it brings into love Stressed side
3 Empress Warmth, care, a wish to build a home or family Smothering, mothering a partner
6 Lovers Attraction, equality, choosing each other Indecision, love triangles
9 Hermit Depth, loyalty, a need for space Distance, emotional withdrawal
12 Hanged Man Devotion, seeing a partner differently Self-sacrifice, waiting for change
15 Devil Chemistry, passion, magnetism Possessiveness, dependency
18 Moon Intuition, empathy, romance Suspicion, illusions about a partner
21 World Breadth, freedom, mixing cultures Restlessness, avoiding commitment

If a list elsewhere shows a love line starting with, say, 4 or 11, that site uses a different formula.

When numbers repeat on the line

A repeat adds weight. In the November 8, 1988 example, Justice (8) fills both the middle and the shared point of the love line, and it is also that chart’s A and C, so fairness and clear agreements carry across love, work and how others see you. In the July 26, 1994 example, the Lovers (6) opens the love line and also sits in the middle of the money channel (9 · 6 · 15), so choices made from the heart shape both areas. A love line that contains your center number E tells you that the way you behave when comfortable is the way you’ll behave in partnership, for better and worse.

How does the love line connect to the karmic tail and money channel?

The love line’s first number, D2, is also the first number of your karmic tail. In the first example, D2 is 21 and the tail is 21-4-10. The tail’s pattern, here a tension between freedom and control, tends to surface first in close relationships, so read the two together.

The love line’s last number is also the last number of the money channel. In the first example both end in 6. Readers take this as a sign that love and money affect each other: when the shared card is working, the two areas support each other, and when it’s neglected, strain in one spills into the other.

Two more points add context:

  • The center E. Your comfort zone colors how you act when a relationship is easy. E = 11, Strength, points to patience and steadiness in the first example.
  • A and B. A, your portrait, shows the first impression you make. B, the talent point, shows what you naturally offer a partner.

Can the love line show your soulmate or future partner?

No. The love line describes qualities, not people. Our calculator labels D2 the soulmate point, and the tradition reads it as the kind of energy you’re drawn to and grow with. It can’t name a person, give a date or promise an outcome.

It’s most useful as a mirror. Ask “Where do I recognize this pattern?” rather than “Is this person right for me?” If the stressed column fits you better than the constructive one right now, that’s worth knowing. And keep your partner’s experience in view: a chart can’t speak for anyone else’s feelings or choices.

How to compare two love lines

When two people compare charts, check whether their love lines share a number, and whether one person’s entry card matches the other’s shared point or center. Shared numbers often feel like instant familiarity. Lines that look nothing alike can mean the two of you need to talk openly about what each expects.

A fuller approach is a couple’s matrix, where matching points of both charts are added together and a combined love line is built from the result. The compatibility guide explains how it works, and the destiny matrix compatibility calculator does the arithmetic. For a quicker single-card comparison, the arcana compatibility calculator pairs two birth cards instead.

Different love line on another site?

If your love line doesn’t match another calculator, check these points:

  • Different points. Some sites fold the center E into the love reading as a “communication” point, or add extra points for intimacy built from the ancestral square. Their three-card line may still match ours under other names.
  • Different reduction. Subtracting 22 instead of adding digits gives different numbers from the same date. Both rules are explained in why arcana calculators disagree.
  • Different numbering. If 8 and 11 look swapped, the site is using Rider-Waite-Smith names. The matrix uses Marseille numbering, where 8 is Justice and 11 is Strength. The history of the Strength and Justice swap explains why.

Frequently asked questions

Is the love line the same as the relationship line?

Yes. Teachers and calculators call it the love line, the relationship line, the relationship channel or the love channel. In the Ladini method used on this site, it's the three-card line that starts at D2, next to the center on the bottom side, and ends at the shared point it has in common with the money channel.

Does the love line apply to every kind of relationship?

Yes. The positions describe how you attach, what you look for and what you build with someone, and none of that depends on gender or the type of relationship. Many readers also use it for close friendships and business partnerships, where the same patterns of trust, closeness and give-and-take tend to repeat.

Does Death or the Tower on my love line mean a breakup?

No. A card on the love line names a theme. Death (13) usually points to relationships that renew themselves by ending old habits outright, and the Tower (16) to bonds that grow through breakthroughs and plain truth. Their stressed sides are fear of loss and sudden upheaval, which are patterns to notice and work with.

Can my love line change over time?

The numbers can't, because they come from your birth date. How you live them can. A love line with the Hermit might look like keeping partners at arm's length in your twenties and as a healthy need for space later on. Readers see that shift from the stressed side of a card to its constructive side as the purpose of reading the line.
